Summary

Amends the:

Higher Education Funding Act 1988
in relation to funding and grant levels for certain purposes;
Higher Education Support Act 2003
in relation to: funding in relation to the Commonwealth Grant Scheme and Other Grants for 2005-07; setting of student contributions and tuition fees; remission of HECS-HELP debts for work experience in industry units; definition of Equivalent Full Time Student Load; and notification of tax file numbers by students; and
Higher Education Support (Transitional Provisions and Consequential Amendments) Act 2003
to: simplify transitional funding arrangements for University of Notre Dame Australia students; and provide Ministerial discretion to approve funding increases under the Commonwealth Grants Scheme in the first year of implementation (2005) under certain circumstances.
